Saltwater Taffy is honored to be part of the Seven Arrows Elementary Literary Festival happening this week in Pacific Palisades, California.  What is super cool about the visit is the author on stage right before me is none other than Alan Sitomer, California Teacher of the Year, who had this to say about Saltwater Taffy: “Pirate.  Adventure and Treasure!  Saltwater Taffy is a rockin’ good time!  Aarrgggghhhh!”

Reading to your children is not only important, it is the greatest gift of all.  With the rain falling onto the rooftops and the parks closed over this past weekend, I pulled out the last two copies of Saltwater Taffy I have (we have sold through 5000 copies so far and onto our 2nd printing) and began reading the adventure to my daughter.  At first, she was more interested in her stuffed animal ‘Bunny,’ but when I tapped into my days of being an actor in high school in college, I began to change my voice and read the story as if it were some kind of play. Accelerated Reader Picks Saltwater Taffy

Accelerated Reader Saltwater TaffyAccelerated Reader picks Saltwater Taffy for it’s list of award-winning children’s books.  This is a SAWEET honor for us to be on the Accelerated Reader list because now children across the country can be rewarded for reading Saltwater Taffy.

For those of you who aren’t aware of this list, the Accelerated Reader program is a software assessment tool that assesses a student’s reading level, suggests titles of books at that level, and then assess whether a student has completed reading the book by asking a series of quiz questions.  The program is highly popular around the country because it enhances the reading skills of the students as well as the teaching experience.  It creates reading independence among students and accountability, which is perfect for reluctant readers.  If you are looking for books for kids, Saltwater Taffy is a perfect read for kids.
